If you are a fan of RPG games, you must have heard of The Elder Scrolls. This is a popular game series released by Bethesda. The game first appeared available on PC platforms in 1994. Until now, there have been 5 other versions released. While fans are excited about a 6th version of the game, Bethesda has brought a surprise when announcing a new game of The Elder Scrolls for mobile and handhelds called The Elder Scrolls: Blades.
The Elder Scrolls: Blades is the second game of this series on mobile after The Elder Scrolls: Legends. However, instead of being a game card like its previous version, The Elder Scrolls: Blades brings RPG gameplay with many improvements to fit on mobile. The game is officially available on Play Store and has allowed pre-registration. We will update the download link as soon as it is available. In the meantime, let’s have a look at the general information of the game right below!
Role-playing adventure gameplay
The Elder Scrolls: Blades has an interesting gameplay that combines RPG and Adventure. In the game, you will become a forgotten warrior on the way to regain glory in the past. Your adventure begins in an unknown place. Here, you have to use the sword and kill all the monsters you meet on the way.
If you are a fan of The Elder Scrolls series on PC, you will be a little disappointed by the gameplay of The Elder Scrolls: Blades. Because, in this version, you will not free as you used to experience. In which, the world is really beautiful but it is not too huge. The roads always appear right in front of you that you have to move on. There are no large areas to move freely and discover secrets. Besides, you cannot move through cliffs or jump over a stone. Sometimes, you move around only to find a hidden treasure or a sparkling tree root, which bring gold and diamonds. On the other hand, the game graphics are really impressive.
Your journey is not easy when monsters are always changing and getting stronger. They will cause you more difficulties. At this point, open Inventory and upgrade your character is a great solution. Here, the game will display the items you have collected in the battle. There are things you will be interested in such as Armor, Helmet, Gloves, and Weapons. You can change any character’s equipment, or upgrade them with gold to increase attribute points. Some heavy weapons can deal great damage, but the attack speed is slow, and vice versa. Therefore, you have to pay attention to choose a suitable weapon for each type of monster.
The in-game world
In The Elder Scrolls: Blades, the world is divided into 3 different areas that you can see right at the game’s home screen.
- Abyss – A place that brings powerful combat experiences when you face a lot of monsters. In which, you can explore dungeons and search for treasures.
- Arena – This is the place that will prove your fighting talent. Arena matches take place in real time. You will face a random opponent around the world. Moreover, you can defeat them to receive great rewards.
- Town – This is where you will develop your story. Here, you can receive and report the quests, meet NPCs, rebuild destroyed areas …
Each area will bring different experiences to the players. However, you will aim at a common goal of collecting gold and diamonds. They are 2 major currency units in the game, which are very important in upgrading weapons or equipment. Besides, some items can also be purchased with real money.
The optimizing touch screen control mechanism
As stated, The Elder Scrolls: Blades are an exclusive product on the mobile platform (Android, iOS), so the battle mechanism and in-game controls need to be optimized to fit the touch screen. In this game, the developer did it well. You will not see any navigation buttons on the screen. Instead, the character’s actions will be performed through dragging, holding and swiping. Let us expand this:
In the game, you will use the left side area to navigate the character or touch any position on the screen to order the character to move to. In which, there are also keys to perform spells or skills. On the right side area, this is where you will control the character to fight. In which, you can hold and swipe to attack the enemy. When you exactly perform the combo attacks, you may send extra damages to enemies. In addition, to defend, your character has shields which are very useful in combat. When your enemy attacks, You can tap the left side of the screen to defend. The accurate timing can create a powerful counter-attack that causes your opponent to die immediately. In general, the control mechanism of The Elder Scrolls: Blades is quite simple. However, to win battles, you have to know how to incorporate the correct buttons at the right time.
The Elder Scrolls: Blades can also play on the vertical screen. So, you can even enjoy a coffee cup and play it with just one hand.
The graphics and sound
In The Elder Scrolls: Blades, the graphics are really incredible. The world in the game is extremely impressive, making you seem to be immersed in it. Eventually, the smallest details are well designed. Besides, the light with real-time shadows and high-resolution textures are covering the world, giving it a vivid background and sometimes the horror. Overall, this may be one of the best graphics games on mobile this year.
The sound of the game is also good enough to bring great experiences. It is very diverse such as the sound of weapons colliding, the sound of magic, the sound of monsters … They created a really exciting fighting atmosphere.
Possessing impressive graphics makes The Elder Scrolls: Blades require a powerful device configuration. This game is definitely not for low-end devices. We tested on some high-end devices like iPhone Xs max and Galaxy s9, The Elder Scrolls: Blades worked perfectly.
It is too early to judge The Elder Scrolls: Blades succeed or fail. Maybe the fans of The Elder Scrolls series will see a bit of disappointment when watching the gameplay video of this game. In which, the open and immersive world element has been much removed. Even so, The Elder Scrolls: Blades graphics are a big plus, which brings great experiences to the players. In addition, the battle mechanism is quite creative and outstanding, enough to please those who love action and adventure game. We still insist that The Elder Scrolls: Blades is one of the best games that you have never seen before.
